Founded in 2014 by cellist Mike Kaufman, Sunset ChamberFest presents world class chamber music concerts in LA every June. The performers featured are some of the finest chamber musicians on the stage today. The Festival also drives the creation of new music, inspiring the next generation of composers through mentorship, education and professional performances and recordings.

Since its inception, nearly 70 young composers have taken part in the Young Composers Workshop. Participants of the program have gone on to study at institutions such as Curtis, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Juilliard, Colburn, Eastman, USC, and UCLA just to name a few. Their works have been performed by the LA Phil, International Contemporary Ensemble, Wild Up, Calder and Argus Quartets, and at venues such as the Concertgebouw and BBC Proms.

Participants receive mentorship from the Festival’s renowned composition faculty and benefit from the chance at working with professional musicians.
